The 2009 Learning Technology Mentors program aims to expand the number of Learning Technology Mentors across the Institute from the 2008 project and will engage Learning Technology Mentors across a number of discipline areas to use and embed new technologies in teaching and learning so that we can respond more quickly and flexibly to the needs of customers and students. This project will allow us to enhance student engagement and personalised learning opportunities. We will expand on our network of 10 Learning Technology Mentors and increase to 13 Learning Technology Mentors across the Institute and work with them to enhance their skills in mentoring and the use of new technologies. These Learning Technology Mentors will then each mentor 10 staff. The project includes the purchase of and additional two Resource Development Kits and associated professional development for the Learning Technology Mentors.
The project aims to embed elearning into teaching and learning practice within Riverina Institute with teachers and students across multiple discipline areas.
The project will include:
Use of Resource Development Kits (laptop, digital camera, iPods, RFID)
Podcasting and Vodcasting for distribution of educational material
Personal Learning Environments for managing own learning
Wikis, Blogging, videoblogging and moblogging for learning and assessment
RFID technology to develop underpinning knowledge and skills.
The methodology will be to up-skill a key group of staff as Learning Technology Mentors (LTMs) in the use of the following technologies: wikis, blogs, and Adobe Connect and use of resource development kits (iPod, digital camera, RFID, laptop, software: Adobe captivate, Photoshop Elements, Adobe Audition, Acrobat Professional).
