Learning Technology Mentors

In 2008, TAFE NSW Riverina Institute ran a project funded through ANT2 (Applying New Technologies 2) and Riverina Institute which aimed to engage Learning Technology Mentors across a number of discipline areas to use and embed new technologies in teaching and learning so that we could respond more quickly and flexibly to the needs of customers and students. This project allowed us to enhance student engagement and personalised learning opportunities. We developed a network of 10 Learning Technology Mentors across the Institute and worked with them to enhance their skills in mentoring and the use of new technologies. These Learning Technology Mentors each mentored up to 10 staff. The project included the purchase of Resource Development Kits and associated professional development for the Learning Technology Mentors.

In 2009, TAFE NSW Riverina Institute continued the Learning Technology Mentors project and aimed to build on the existing program and increase the number of Learning Technology Mentors across the Institute. The project was conducted with the staff shown in the left side navigation menu and their showcases and stories can be found by clicking on the relevant links.

In 2010, we will be making some subtle adjustments to the way the LTM projects are conducted. Heads of Campus will be distributing the Expression of Interest flyers to their campus staff in January/February. Interested staff are to complete an Expression of Interest adn then submit to their Head of Campus (with line supervisor support already gained). Successful applicants will be notified in early February and their 2-day workshop will be held on the 25th and 26th February in E Block at the Wagga Wagga campus. Contact the Learning Technology Team in Wagga Wagga for further information.

This year, in 2011, the project enters its fourth year with Mentors having been invited to participate by the HOS from each Discipline area so that projects have faculty based project. As a result each project proposal will be in consultation with the HOS, Discipline Mentor and the Learning Technology Mentor. Each Learning Technology Mentor will work with 3-5 mentees utilising the technology and equipment provided in their Mentor kits, to successfully complete a meaningful, fit for purpose Faculty Project. All Faculty Projects undertaken will be completed and showcased at the end of Semester 2
